Good magazine for small boat enthusists (2006-11-08)
I’m biased as I love small boats. Once you get infected with this disease you don’t mind reading lots about boats, small boats, adventures, boat hardware etc. That said, this is a niche magazine. But it’s a good one. They have good reviews of boats. The writing is a bit uneven as they rely on readers to submit articles but none of the writing is bad. The editors appear to clean things up, yet leave the authors voice in the text.

You can’t please all readers, and this magazine focuses on small boats that sail. So it can encumpas sailing rowboats, sailing kayaks, sailing canoes as well as traditional pocket cruising boats.

If you love small sailboats you’ll probably like this magazine as well. Go to their website and look at the articles in the past issues. If your interest is peaked, then this is probably the magazine for you.

It’s not as “snooty” as “Woodenboat” as they don’t limit themselves to a single boat building material but rather a length. I think that the upper limit is about 26ft.
