Customer Reviews:
Great product (for the price) (2008-04-12)
I use this to work out and they are great for that purpose. They stay in my ears while I run or lift weights, the cord is not so long that it gets in my way, and the cord is the same length at the left/right “Y” split. I have another pair of head phones that have a long cord for the right ear and a short cord for the left ear - because of this, there is more weight on the left ear bud and it tends to fall out when I run.
The sound on these is not great, my other JVC head phones sound better - but they were also about $20 dollars. And when I’m running on a loud treadmill, sound quality isn’t that important to me. The sound is good enough on these, especially for the low price.
I wouldn’t mind having a second set of these. I’m going to keep them on my “wish list” and next time I buy something from Amazon for $20 dollars, I’ll throw another pair of these into my basket so I’ll go over the $25 dollar limit and get free shipping. They would kind of pay for themselves that way.won’t stay in my ears while i’m exercising (2008-04-12)
basically, this item couldn’t stay inside the ear while i was exercising. while sitting comfortably withour motion this product was ok, but then the right ear stopped working. waste of money. The Cost of These has a Nice Ring to It (2008-04-11)
I’ll start off my review with a confession, I don’t take care of earphones at all. I toss them in my pocket, throw them on the table, and just generally act as a destructive machine to all that is sound.
That’s why these earphones were great for someone like me. For the cost of a meal at a cheap grab and go resturant I was able to get something that I can use for work, home, and generally anywhere else I’d bother to listen to sound.
Now these things have some negative qualities to them. I’m not an expert at sound like these other readers I’ve seen reviews from here but I’ll try to explain them as best as I can…
It feels like I have a worm in my ear whenever I stick these in. The thin rubber inside does nothing for you and I think if they used some sort harder rubber my ears would have welcomed it.
Secondly, it always sounds like something is off no matter how loud the music is. Not that the music is bad really but listening to it at normal levels of volume just sound dulled out some.
Still, the cost of these things outweighs the negative side effects. Yes, if you want super sound buy a more expensive pair. However, if all you care about is listening to music decently that won’t run your wallet into the ground these little buds will do the trick. They didn’t work (2008-04-10)
I bought these as a replacement for the earphones I got with my ipod. Straight out of the box, the left earbud never worked. Don’t waste your time and your $6.Best Six Bucks I’ve Ever Spent! No more ear pain! (2008-04-10)
After reading Brandon’s review I repeated his experiment and had the opposite results. After purchasing the Coby and JBuds I find the Coby superior.
The JBuds sound was very slightly “fuzzier”. I was expecting a noticeable difference since the JBuds were more than 3 times the cost of the Coby. I used both Coby and JBuds for about an hour each on different settings, music and spoken word on my iPod. Neither seemed to have a “break in” period as another reviewer expressed.
Both were a FAR CRY better than the iPod originals! Thank God for small miracles. The iPod earbuds KILL my ears. Both of the replacement earbuds, Coby and JBuds, were almost soothing compared to the dimes on a stick iPod expects me to use.
The only thing the JBuds have over these is the replacement pads for the buds themselves. OH and the color! I prefer the black because my iPod is black. However, the originals are white, so it is not a big deal.
I say save the 10 bucks, and buy two spare pair of the Coby buds. I just bought four more pair. Super little gift for my friends with iPods…the middle agers like me, who can’t deal with the iPod ear pain and I am giving my son the JBuds.
