This is the 2nd best boxing magazine available (behind RING). Very glossy pics and well written articles.True competitor (2005-11-01)
If one magazine exists that can compete with Ring magazines journalistic domination of the sport of boxing - it is Boxing Digest. The writing is professional, interesting and timely. Page-for-page Boxing Digest delivers more news and it covers more aspects of the sport than Ring magazine. The typeset means the writers can cram more information into each page, and quite a bit of space is devoted to exploring boxing events in most States in the US (not just the big HBO fights). Most of the content is dead-on and it is nice to see writers deviate from the dry format of other sports magazines and offer personal reflections & opinions. I would however, like to see more human-interest articles, more explicit advocacy of government regulation of the sport, health care for fighters, retirement fund for fighters, etc. and more open criticism of those who would harm the sport (pretty much everyone aside from the boxers themselves). Still, a great read and well worth the price.
